Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Preface
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program started in July 2006.
It was launched in response to the labor market demand for well qualified and skilled female cadres in this area and coinciding with Ahfad University strategy for the development and promotion of women.
Mission & Vision
Mission:
The mission of the program is to provide students with advanced educational courses of high-quality that expose them to modern management approaches and practices. The program emphasizes the use of analytical tools and application of related skills that are essential for enhancing decision making and performance in the contemporary business environment.
Vision:
The vision of the program is to produce qualified and effective female managers who are properly adjusted to current developments in the field of business administration and to excel in performance according to global standards.
Objectives of the Program
The program aims at:
- Providing a comprehensive and integrated sequence of courses that equip students with the fundamental knowledge and skills of management which are basic to any high - level professional managerial career whether in the private or the public sector.
- Preparing students to contribute in the development of business enterprises and entrepreneurship, which would make the program more relevant and pertinent to the local Sudanese business environment.
- Providing students with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills that would enable them to be successfully involved in issues of electronic business and globalization.
As such, the courses are designed to:
- Introduce students to a wide range of management knowledge, skills and techniques for problem - solving and decision- making.
- Develop an understanding of the key functions in management and their interrelationships.
- Enhance interpersonal relationship skills by working in groups for decision-making and problem-solving assignments.
- Bring forth the aspects of entrepreneurship and business development as a mechanism for income generation and socio-economic development.
Targeted group
The program is designed in such a way that it caters for the training of professional women such as those involved in administrative positions from both business and non - business disciplines, in addition to those who want to pursue academic career and / or want to conduct further post graduate studies. Accordingly, the following categories are targeted:
1- Candidates from the public and private sectors.
2- Candidates involved in top or middle management levels.
3- Candidates seeking academic career.
Criteria of the MBA Program
1. The program accepts applicants from all disciplines beside business administration.
2. Study is by courses only.
3. The Medium of instruction is English.
4. Classes are in the afternoon.
5. The duration of the program is four semesters.
Requirements for Admission
- Applicants should hold either:
i. A Bachelor degree with at least GOOD level from AUW or an equivalent degree from a recognized university , OR
ii. A post-graduate diploma with merit in Business Administration from a recognized university.
-Types of applicants admitted to the program:
A. Non-business based students are admitted to semester one to study four semesters.
B. Business - based students with honor degree Distinction, Very Good or equivalent degrees are admitted to semester three to study two semesters only.
-All applicants are subjected to an English Proficiency test.
Curriculum of the Program
The program curriculum comprises 20 courses (five courses per semester) with a total of 60 credit hrs. They are as follows:

Extra-curricular Activities
As part of the Extra-curricular activities of the MBA Program a Management Forum is arranged periodically for the students. The aim is to introduce current issues that are relevant to the industry to broaden students’ knowledge and to expose them to what is going on in the surrounding business environment. The forum provides students excellent chance to discuss up-to-date issues and to acquire new information that might satisfy their queries regarding different on-going topics. The forum sessions are delivered by specialized professors, management scholars or experienced and knowledgeable practitioners in the evenings, at the MBA premises.
