The International Continence Society’s (ICS) 8th Workshop for Surgical Repair of Vaginal Fistula & Urinary Incontinence

As part of a series of international workshops aimed at surgical training on repairs to vaginal fistulas, on December 11th – 14th 2019, the International Continence Society (ICS) held its’ 8th workshop for Surgical Repair of Vaginal Fistula & Urinary Incontinence in collaboration with the School of Medicine of Ahfad University for Women and Alrajhi Hospital.

The workshop was meant to train registrar and consultants of Urology and Obstetrics and Gynecology on repairing fistula especially in countries with high prevalence. The sessions and operations were performed by a full multi-disciplinary team teaching various surgical techniques.

The workshop started with an introduction by prof. Gasim Badri and Sherif Mourad - a Professor of Urology at Ain Shams University, Egypt - followed by a further introduction to Anatomical Consideration and Surgical Principles, classifications and surgical repairs of the Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) and the Laparoscopic Role. Afterwards the attendees attended a number of operations on local patients.

The next two days also included operations, ending the sessions with a conclusion of procedures and a discussion among the participants who were also awarded certificates for their attendance.
