AUW Welcomes its third Fulbright Scholar, Professor Elgenaid Hamadain
Ahfad University for Women (AUW) welcomed Professor Elgenaid Ibrahim Hamadain, the third Fulbright American Scholar to AUW, since the resumption of the programme in 2017, in Sudan after 20 years of cessation.
Professor Hamadain was a professor and biostatistician, at the Department of Health Science, School of Health-Related Professions, University of Mississippi Medical Center between 2006 and 2020, and after retirement, he founded a private business in 2021, called “Professional Statistical Consulting and Tutoring LLC”.
Professor Elgenaid will be in AUW until June 2023, to share his expertise in the area of statistics with AUW faculty, staff, undergraduate and graduate students. He has already conducted several workshops on the use of SPSS for faculty members, and will continue in organizing statistical activities, including conducting statistical workshops (basic and advanced levels), presenting several seminars in areas needed for research and development, providing one-to-one statistical advice to faculty and students who are undertaking research studies, teaching courses including statistics, research methods, and others as advised by AUW.
He will also be doing a research study to examine if these activities would make a difference for faculty and students. The ultimate goals of these statistical activities are to improve the statistical knowledge and skills of faculty members, staff, and students, and to contribute in strengthening the research capability at AUW to serve as a model for other universities in Sudan.
