Establishment
Ahfad Biomedical Research laboratory was established in 1999.
Ahfad Biomedical Research laboratory is a center of excellence in biomedical research in the area of Endemic Diseases in Sudan.
To advance research in the area of endemic diseases, through transfer of technologies and their application in laboratory diagnosis of diseases, treatment, prevention and control.
The overall goal of establishing a Biomedical Research Laboratory is to initiate and implement applied research that could contribute to the well-being of the Sudanese citizen.
- To undertake community oriented biomedical research on endemic diseases.
- To develop, standardize and improve diagnostic techniques especially for endemic diseases.
- To apply and introduce these improved diagnostic tools to central hospitals and health centers to assist in intervention.
- To use these diagnostic tools for epidemiological and surveillance purposes.
- To build and strengthen research capacity of BRL staff and partners in other school of the universities and collaborators
- To create suitable research environment for researchers by securing basic infrastructure.
- To promote Social Medicine in the prevention and control of diseases
- To raise community awareness towards prevention of infectious diseases through staff and students’ field trips
