TRUST 2nd Annual Conference Sustainability and Networking

Ahfad University for Women (AUW) in Partnership with FK Norway held the 2nd Annual Trauma Resilience Understanding, Services & Training “TRUST” Conference on Networking and Sustainability Tuesday 2nd February 2016 at AUW.

This succession, the conference aspired to support well-versed decision-making through coordination, mutual dependency and co-responsibility of mental health services providers and stakeholders necessitated for sustainable services. The outcome of the conference was to ascertain research on and implementation of resilience building approaches and the development of a model that support such services. Also it was a way to introduce and familiarizes attendees with the services ATC provide, its partners, its future vision.

Representatives from UN agencies, embassies, universities, mental health hospitals, NGO’s, INGO’s, and AUW staff and students had attended.

The conference opted for reflecting real life experiences of their partners Hedmark University- Norway, Narrative Foundation- South Africa, and future partner Muslim Resource Centre for Support and Social Integration (MRCSSI)- Canada in terms of networking and mental health services sustainability.

Presentations covered topics such as reflection on networking and sustainability experiences of AUW and Norway; refugee’s integration model in Canada; narrative theatre as sustainability tool; as well as resilience concepts and research for benchmarking resilience building therapeutic approach. The conference also helped to support collaboration within and between mental health service providers and stakeholders as well as encourage multi-disciplinary and multisectoral linkages.
